Blue Lagoon By Rochelle O'Gorman
The cinematography by Néstor Almendros garnered him an Oscar
nomination. Unfortunately, the performance by then child star Brooke
Shields garnered her a nomination, too--for a Razzie Award. She won, he
didn't.
This 1980 remake of a much classier, 1949 British version features
Shields and Christopher Atkins as children shipwrecked on a lush tropical
island. They grow to maturity and fall in love, with the script paying
special attention to their burgeoning sexuality. Should you desire more
trite dialogue, there is an even less satisfying sequel, 1991's Return
to the Blue Lagoon.
Academy Awards
Blue Lagoon received an Academy
Award nomination for Cinematography (Nestor Almendros).

"I think 'Blue Lagoon' is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time! Because I am a teenager, I can sort of relate to Em and Richard in a way. I didnt even know this movie exsisted until I just by chance watched it on Pay TV. I think this movie is a classic and I think that it should be more well known because it is such a great movie." --Anonymous | "My mother took my bother and I to see Blue Lagoon at the drive in. It was my mothers way of teaching us about the birds and the bees. I didn't learn too much. :)
I really don't know why a lot of people concider Blue Lagoon as a bad film. I saw it for the first time when I was 10, and I still like it so much. It seems to me a good film, and it's for everyone of us what we like to live at least once in our lives." --norrego | "Blue Lagooon is a beautiful romantic movie. Personally it is my favorite movie. It just makes you feel so great and makes you want to fall in love." --tootsi |
