Can't Stop the Music

By Anchor Bay Entertainment

New York City DJ/songwriter Jack Morell (Steve Guttenberg) needs just one big break to get his music heard and land a record deal. But with the help of his retired supermodel roommate (Valerie Perrine) and an uptight tax attorney (Olympic champion Bruce Jenner), they bring together six singing macho men from the Greenwich Village scene for an outrageously '80s adventure of fun, fantasy and disco fever. Welcome to the not quite straight story of the creation of the Village People in their one and only musical extravaganza. This is Can't Stop the Music!

Reviled by critics but beloved by fans, Can't Stop the Music is still a jaw-dropping experience for everyone. Tammy Grimes, Marilyn Sokol and June Havoc co-star in this notorious camp classic produced by Allan Carr (Grease) that features unforgettable dialogue, unimaginable performances, unbelievable production numbers of hits like "Y.M.C.A." and so much more!

Your Memories Shared!

"Hello from England, I would now like to see some major critical reinstatement of this film after the manner of what has happened to Michael Camino’s Heaven's Gate, because "music" revived perfectly under the watchful eye of Arlene Philips the old tradition of the Nuremberg rally dance number with its unsurpassed scene of the men in the YMCA pool which is brilliant even now. Stars survived the alleged failure of this film including Mr. Gutenberg and the village people have not suffered one iota and yet all people want to remember are the bigger pretensions of Parker's fame which stays as daft as it was at the brink of the eighties and is sour milk compared to the VP's and Miss Perrine. So there's no turkey on my table here and the sooner the film goes back for some critical acclaim alongside grease the better."

"My father was one of the songwriters for this film and I remember, at the tender age of 9, going the NYC premiere. What an eye-opener!

My younger sister and I watched this movie so much that we still know scenes from it by heart. Sometimes we'll burst into one of them just to embarrass him a bit. :)"
