Dolly Parton and Syslvester Stallone spark this raucous, rollicking
comedy about a beautiful singer and a seasoned New York cabby suddenly
thrown together for better or worse. "Jake" Ferris
(Parton) is the star attraction at The Rhinestone, New York City's
toughest country/western nightclub. It's no picnic keeping these
rowdy would-be cowboys entertained, and Jake wants desperately to move on
to greener (and quieter) pastures.
But she may be doomed to five more years here because she's just bet
her sleazy boss (Ron Leibman) that she can turn anyone into a singer good
enough to live through one show with the club's crazy clientele.
Unfortunately, Jake's stuck with Nick Martinelli (Stallone), a tough,
street-wise cabby who hates country music "worse than liver."
Can these two survivors who have nothing in common stand each other
long enough to win Jake her bet and perhaps launch Nick on a new career?
It's highly doubtful....But then even The Rhinestone has never seen the
likes of this supercombo.
