AC/DC - Back in Black RIAA Certified Multi-Platinum! Click here to see this CD at Amazon.com!

By David Cantwell

Most critics complain Back in Black, the album AC/DC recorded after the death of their original lead screamer Bon Scott, is ridiculously juvenile, obvious, snickering, bludgeoning, derivative, single-minded about sex and booze, a big cartoon. All true, of course, and--on rock 'n' ragers like "What Do You Do For Money Honey," "You Shook Me All Night Long," and the title track--all great. As Scott's replacement Brian Johnson reminds us, loud and crunchy, no-holds-barred "rock and roll ain't noise pollution...it makes good, good sense." Never trust anyone who refuses to drink domestic beer, laugh at the Three Stooges, or crank Back in Black.

Your Memories Shared!

"Back in Black was a make or break album for AC/DC because since 1974 AC/DC had been playing live shows virtually every night and had finally produced the hit album Highway to Hell in 1979 with their lead singer Bon Scott who then tragically died in February 1980. Scott was the creative genius who used double entandra to humorously convey the three reoccurring themes of sex, booze and Rock and Roll. When Bon died, the band had no idea if Brian Johnson could be as successful as Bon Scott, so in a very short period of time they made Back in Black as a tribute to Bon Scott. Fortunately, Back in Black surpassed Highway to Hell as their best selling album and the band was established as one of the great bands of Rock and Roll as the Hall of Fame will testify. AC/DC never did make a better album after Back in Black. AC/DC was never Heavy Metal Rock, they are the most basic Rhythm n Blues, Boogie Rock and Roll based on the early influences of Chuck Berry. It's a Long Way to the Top if You Want to Rock and Roll."

"This album reminds me of a rock club that I go to in Hollywood called the Rainbow. The music rocks and the songs have great melody to them. This have been voted the best rock album of all time. I definitely think so."

--Maggie

" Ah. . . Back in Black. . . some good childhood memories come to mind whenever I hear this song. One particular memory involves my friend's sister taking the Back in Black tape and smashing it with my uncles hammer. . . she was provoked however.

How did this happen? Well, my friend and I would scream "Back and Black, I hit the sack" as loud as we possibly could just to antagonize his sister. Unfortunately for my tape, we yelled it one too many times. She grabbed the tape out of my little red cassette player, brought it into the garage and smashed it with a hammer. That was the last of that tape."

--Rodd

"Back In Black by AC/DC is one of the greatest classic rock albums ever recorded & released showcasing the thunder from down under at their finest. AC/DC is one of the greatest rock bands of all time with few equals because of this rock album with great tracks that kick you in the pants. I was 16 years old at the time when Back In Black was the soundtrack of my youth in those days which was blasting from every car in high school to every stereo at home. "
