Stevie Nicks - Bella Donna .gif) By Peter Blackstock
While Stevie Nicks had the most recognizable voice in Fleetwood Mac,
there was no guarantee she could craft the same kind of pop-rock magic
without the help of the Mac's guiding musical force, Lindsey Buckingham.
As such, Bella Donna found her emerging surprisingly strongly as a
solo talent. Part of the credit goes to Tom Petty, who gave her an
excellent song in "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" (and duets
with her on it). But other high points are Nicks's own creations,
including the urgently rocking "Edge of Seventeen" and the
country-tinged ballad "Leather and Lace" (a duet with Don
Henley). A few tunes here are forgettable, but overall Nicks started her
solo career on a high note.

"I absolutely adore Stevie Nicks. I was born in 1980. Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks were favorites of my parents. I was constantly in trouble for playing with the buffet table record player/ 8 track player. These were the albums that were in it. I knew every word, long before I would ever be old enough to understand them. As I grew Stevie Nicks grew with me and I soon learned that the lady that I sang along with was one of the most influencial contemporary poets of our time. Incorporating sensitive, personal, and often mystical lyrics into this thing we call Rock N Roll, and giving girls of all ages, any walk of life, any country, positive answers to the ups and the downs in the road of ones life. She is a survivor." --Brandy Lynn Confer |
