Debbie Gibson - Out of the Blue .gif) By Patrick Mondout
The first four singles all hit the top five and more than three million
of you (and yes, me too) bought her album - all before she turned 18. It
is unfortunate that so many so quickly dismiss her music as if she were in
the same class as that teenage queen of covers Tiffany. Miss Gibson wrote
all of her tunes and had been playing piano sense age five and the song Foolish
Beat is a great pop tune regardless of her age. The album's slick
production has a very late-Awesome80s sound to it and the lyrics to the
uptempo songs are perhaps best appreciated by teenagers, but you are
unlikely to find better teen-pop than Gibson's debut.
