Terence Trent D'Arby - Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby .gif) By Amy Linden
This 1987 CD is one of the best debuts ever. A stunning, soulful
approach to merging old influences and new realities, TTD burst on to the
scene with an album that sounds even better today. At the time D'Arby was
compared (sometimes by himself) to Stevie, Michael, Smokey, and Marvin.
Simply put, without TTD's egomaniacal/lover stance, it's hard to fathom
Maxwell, Tony Toni Tone, or any other neo-soul boys.

"Quite simply timeless. This is the best album ever made, in my opinion, combining a raw talent with more raw talent. Bring this man back on!!!! (Thinking of Munich 1987, T.)" --Anonymous | "I thought this was an awesome album! My husband and I were dating when this came out. We made alot of great memories to these songs." --Shannon | "Simply the best album of 1987, U2 and Prince notwithstanding. It is a shame that TTD thought he was an artist (or more specifically, he thought he was Prince) and went of the deep end with his next disappointing release. His latest, Wildcard, returns to form but it is too late to recapture the magic that he created in 1987/88 with this release. And yes, it is the best debut by any artist of the rock era." --Anonymous |
