Music in 1989By Patrick Mondout
This was the year Milli
Vanilli burst onto the scene, sold six million albums and won
a Grammy only to have it revoked. It was also the year Tom Petty made
what some observers have called his last
great album. Janet Jackson finally followed up 1986's Control
with an even bigger album
and Madonna created her strongest and
most mature album. But it was guitar-slinging chick who impressed us
the most: Bonnie Raitt's Nick of
Time was the surprise hit of the year and took home Grammys
too.
