1980 Topps/Burger King Pitch, Hit & RunBy Patrick Mondout
Topps produced this set, known as the "Pitch, Hit and Run,"
for Burger King. As the name implies, the cards were divided up in to
three subsets: cards 1-11 were pitchers, 12-22 were hitters, and 23-33
were base stealers. While the cards a very similar to the standard set, a
number of the cards feature different photographs than '80
Topps making it a nice companion to that set.
Topps had produced regional sets for the burger peddlers since 1977,
but this was the first set that was distributed nationally and they were
the first to actually featuring BK ads and logos. Topps also produced a
regional 22 card set of the Philadelphia Phillies for Burger King.
