1986 Donruss HighlightsBy Patrick Mondout
The second annual boxed 56 card set of Donruss Highlights was produced
at the end of the '86 season. While this set was not nearly as popular as
the first one (mostly due to
hype surrounding The Rookies set), it
was still a must-have set after last year's set increased in price so
quickly.
The fronts of the cards were very similar to the standard '86
Donruss set, but had the Highlights logo instead of a team logo and
the player's name and the reason for the card (i.e., "NL Player of
the Month - April") whereas only the player's name and position
appear on the standard card. The fronts also feature alternating black and
gold, rather than blue, striped borders.
The backs of the cards feature a paragraph explaining the honor for
which the card was created.
