1987 Classic Game By Patrick Mondout
Game Time, Ltd. produced a trivia game called Classic Major League
Baseball Board Game. The games shipped with a 100 card, green-bordered
set of standard-sized cards. These cards are known in the hobby as Classic
Game. Such cards are rarely collector's items, but series of cards became
somewhat popular.
The makers of the cards (Game Time) claim that only 75,000 sets were
produced. The company continued to produced updated sets of cards with new
trivia questions in different color schemes (Yellow, Blue, Light Blue,
Red, Orange, Purple) into the 1990s.
The first update set, "Classic Yellow Update", contains a
Barry Bonds rookie card. There are green-back and yellow-back versions of
those cards. Approximately a third of the 100,000 Yellow sets printed have
green backs and they sell for about double the amount of yellow backed
cards.
