1988-89 Fleer Basketball Cards

The 1988-89 Fleer Basketball card set represents the last set ever produced with no competition, and it shows. The uninteresting backs feature stats but little or no biography or anything interesting about the player. At least the photography is better than average for the era.

Once nice design element - and something missing on non-Star Co. sets for a long time in basketball - was the use of team colors as part of the border design. The cards are numbered in alphabetical order by team, and then by alphabetical order within the team with the checklist last.

The wax packs again shipped with All-Star stickers and those stickers were once again all stained on the back to some degree. Rookies include Muggsy Bogues, Mark Price, Derrick McKey, Mark Jackson, Dennis Rodman, Horace Grant and the biggies: Scottie Pippen and Reggie Miller.
