1985 Topps Football Cards

Topps 1985 Football card set is a radical departure from previous issues in design. The black border recall the classic '71 Topps baseball set, but virtually everything else is new. It would have been hard to top the now classic 1984 set, but Topps's designers should be given credit for boldly trying.

Rookie cards include Warren Moon, Irving Fryar, Richard Dent, Sam Mills, Mark Clayton, Ken O'Brien, and Henry Ellard. The set also features second year cards of Dan Marino, John Elway, and Eric Dickerson.

For the first time, Topps included four unique cards on the bottom of wax boxes as became the custom in the baseball world (thanks to Donruss). A special 11 card set of glossies was once again available in rack packs and a different set of glossies was available via a wax pack mail in promotion. Topps also produced yet another set of largely ignored stickers (285), but with no foil stars this time.
