Super Bowl XVI
The San Francisco 49ers won their first Super
Bowl on January 24, 1982 at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan. The
game was broadcast by Pat Summerall and John Madden to the highest ratings
in Super Bowl history.
Joe Montana (14-22 for 157 yards) was named the game's MVP though many
believed the honor should have belonged to CB Eric Wright, who intercepted
one pass and who forced Cris Collinsworth to fumble inside the red zone.
