1984 USFL Draft
By Patrick Mondout
The United States Football League (USFL) held its
second annual draft in January of 1984. The first pick, as expected, was
Heisman Trophy winner Mike Rozier, running back of Nebraska.
Expansion teams went first, but also received additional picks in each
odd-numbered round (two first rounders, two third rounders, etc.). Below
are the two first rounds of the draft.
The New Jersey Generals lost their first round pick as punishment for
signing Herschel Walker a year earlier in apparently violation of the
obviously flexible USFL rules regarding underclassmen.
We also have the 1984 NFL Draft
and other USFL drafts.
