Partners in Crime

Partners in Crime was an attempt to capitalize on the immense popularity of two talented ladies: Lynda Carter and Loni Anderson. The premise of the show was that both ladies, Carol Stanwyck (Carter) and Sydney Kovak (Anderson), had been married to detective Raymond Caulfield (at different times of course) and both had divorced him.

In the pilot, Caulfield is murdered. In his will, he leaves his detective agency and his house to his two ex-wives! They reluctantly take over the business and proceed to solve crimes in some very unusual ways. The premise of the show was very good, but unfortunately the audience just wasn't there. The show only aired for half a season.

Many critics felt that the show focused too much on the fashions and not enough on the plot. The show's short run had nothing to do with casting. Both Carter and Anderson had definitely established themselves as quality performers and both had the tenacity and the sass to make this show work. Perhaps more serious story lines could have saved the show.
