Misfits of ScienceBy Wikipedia
Misfits of Science was a short-lived American superhero
fantasy TV series from 1985, lasting for only 16 episodes. It featured a
cast of super-powered humans and their madcap adventures.
Main cast members
- Dean Paul Martin played Dr. Billy Hayes, the non-powered yet
undisputed leader of this misfit team. Billy was a research scientist
at the Humanidyne Institute.
- Kevin Peter Hall played Dr. Elvin Lincoln, Billy's colleague and
close friend. "El" was a towering black man who gave himself
the ability to shrink to doll size via hormonal treatments.
- Mark Thomas Miller was Johnny Bukowski, a.k.a. Johnny B. He was a
rock and roll musician who was electrocuted on stage, thus giving him
formidable electrical powers. These same powers also granted him some
limited superspeed abilities, but they also made him vulnerable to
water.
- In an early role, Courteney Cox played Gloria Dinallo, a troubled
telekinetic teen with a history of juvenile delinquency.
- Jennifer Holmes played Gloria's probation officer, Jane Miller. Her
character only appeared in the earlier episodes.
- Max Wright was the director of the Humanidyne Institute. Unlike the
other cast members, he was not actually considered to be one of the
Misfits.
The 'Misfits Curse'
An Internet-based legend has arisen suggesting that a "curse"
exists surrounding this series. This is due to the fact that Dean Paul
Martin and Kevin Peter Hall both met early and untimely deaths a few years
after the show ended (Martin in an airplane crash, Hall from AIDS). More
recently, the "curse" has been expanded to include Max Wright,
who in the last few years has battled major personal problems including
drug use.

"Misfits of Science Was an NBC program that ran from Oct 4 1985 through Feb 21 1986. The show consisted of Dean Paul Martin, Kevin Peter Hall, Mark Thomas Miller and a very young Courtney Cox. It was about a team of laboratory scientists along with a 17 yr old telekinetic and a rock star that is an electrical conductor. This hour long weekly program followed the adventures of this group and should never have been taken off the air" --Anonymous | "Yeah, I rememeber the show as being a pretty cool show. Was Courtney the telekenetic? I think she was cause I thoght she was cool. I thought it was just standard practice of the elstablishment to take out the good shows." --Anonymous |
