Cleveland Nets

The Cleveland Nets played four seasons in World Team Tennis before moving to New Orleans for the final WTT season.* The team was owned by Bill Ziegler and at one time featured the number 1 player in the world, Bjorn Borg.

As the first sport with both male and female players, unique circumstances often presented themselves. Player/coach Clark Graebner traded his ex-wife, Carole, to the Pittsburgh Triangles.

Martina Navratilova defected from Czechoslovakia to join the Cleveland Nets, but it was years before she became the dominant women's player.

Despite their presence, the Nets never finished higher than third.

* The 1977 season was split with home games in both Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
