Elton John - Sleeping With the Past .gif) By Tommy Kristensson (fan from Sweden)
Sir Elton's Sleeping with the Past was a comeback of sorts. He
dedicated this album to his lifetime lyricist Bernie Taupin, ("this
album's for you, Bernie") and it contains 10 great songs written by
two of pop music's most successful songwriters (John/Taupin). The album is
dominated by the ballads and one of Elton's most loved songs,
"Sacrifice", is one of them.
Love and sadness dominate the lyrics and I think Taupin is on his
absolutely top of talent and Elton's music is at one of its climaxes too.
There is nothing much more to say; if you liked Elton and Bernie's ballads
at the Super70s, buy this album and taste their top ballads of the
Awesome80s too.

"Mr John is really back in the groove with this very smooth soul recording. Not a bad track amongst this lot and a very enjoyable album. The peak of his Awesome80s albums. Three singles and room for at least two more. Welcome back Mr John and a release from those two awful albums Leather Jackets and Ice on Fire which were pig fodder in comparison." --70s Rocker | "It's a very good album. I really recommend it because it has the spirit fo de sixties and seventies from Elton John. Contains great ballads as Sacrifice, Whispers, Amazes Me, smart songs as Healing Hands, Clup At the End Of The Street, and testimonial songs as Durban Deep, Stones Throw From Hurting. I think that this album is five stars. Well recorded and produced." --Anonymous | "This album was a very emotional peice. It was expressing many feelings and emotional conflict in his life. This is a very enjoyable, yet set back piece of work. Sleeping with the Past is not like any of his earlier music, it is much calmer." --Popoff |
